When Mark originally reached out to me to photograph his marriage to Fabienne, I knew they were no ordinary couple in the best of ways. They were traveling all the way from their home in Germany to Santa Monica to get hitched because it’s one of their favorite places in the whole world. They’ve been to visit California 5 times; and the last time they were on the Santa Monica Pier Ferris Wheel, Mark asked Fabienne to marry him.
So it’s only fitting that after a quiet ceremony, we rode the Ferris Wheel again, except this time they were officially husband and wife. We spent the afternoon running around the pier having the best time and capturing shots along the way, ending with their wedding dinner at none other than Pier Burger!
Photographing an elopement is such a special thing to me because not only are you one of the very few witnesses, but the photographs become that much more important to share the moments with everyone not present! It makes my heart sing when I heard back from Mark after sending sneak peeks the very next day with a note that read:
“Oh my god Jodee, you are so awesome!!!!
The photos are absolutely gorgeous! We just came home from Disneyland where we had no Wifi, unfortunately, and we are absolutely speechless! And these are “just” the highlights? Have you slept at all last night?!
Thank you so much, we are so happy that we chose you as our photographer!!!
And you were so sweet yesterday, first taking care of Fabi and then taking care of everything else on the beach and on the pier so we could just enjoy the moment. We really had such a wonderful time, it was exactly like we dreamed it :)
